There are many governance models for an organization to use, all of which usually consist of standard, set principles, processes and procedures standards, and infrastructure architecture and management policies. Explain why healthcare IT governance is important and how an IT governance model is selected or developed. Does the culture of the organization have an impact on the governance model created or selected? Why or why not? Answer: Healthcare information technology governance plays a significant role in the context of the health service organization. Any mistake by the healthcare organization with respect to technology awareness may lead to severe injuries (Wang, Kung & Byrd, 2018). Therefore it is essential to set the healthcare IT governance in the health service organization. Good governance in IT system delivers the vital roles and responsibilities, which make sure about the balance utilization of the resources, minimization of the risk and maximum realization of the benefits. Along with this, it also ensures compliance with the laws, regulations, and offers the value to the stakeholders (Stoddart & Evans, 2017). There is a requirement of the maintenance of complete documentation in the governance of the IT system. Moreover, IT governance model also enhance the faith in the consumers of the health care products as well as in the patients. At the same time, it also facilitates the protection and the security of the private data. For the implementation of the IT governance system, there are some standard which must be followed by the organization, which are described as below – The fundamental rule is that patient safety is on the top priority. Any implementation of the technology must be suitable for the purpose. All the records must be in the documented form and should be delivered to the quality level consistently. Regularly endure proper integrity, reliability and the secrecy of the data. There should be compliance with the privacy and the requirements of the health care organization (Wager, Lee & Glaser, 2017). Further, the development of the IT governance practice is not an easy task for the company, it should be created by following the prescribed process, which is described as below – IT leadership must be brought into line with the organizational leadership. It is imperative taking into account the rate of change or typically includes the IT efforts. Comply with the IT steering committee; the committee should be comprised of the executive members. The committee must ensure that all the IT decision must be similar to the regular clinical practices. The organization should comply with all the fundamental principles of the IT governance process. The success of IT governance depends on the IT principles and procedures. Follow all the present regulations, which impact the organization. Set up the metrics, to ascertain the progress of performance of IT and analyses the progress regularly. Along with this, organization by establishing the performance measurement and the objectives can determine the performance (Weaver, Ball, Kim & Kiel, 2016). Conclusion The organization by following the above process can develop the good IT governance system. Apart from all the above, there are several factors on which the success and the failure of IT governance system depend. Among all the factors, one of the element is a culture of the organization, which significantly impact on the IT governance practices. Board of directors of the company is responsible for maintaining the strong culture of the organization, which leads to the good IT governance practice.
