HCOs are struggling to recruit and retain qualified health care providers and nurses. In your opinion, what are some of the causes of these shortages? How can these shortages be addressed, outside of offering financial bonuses? Answers: 1.Briefly describe a health care provider with which you are familiar and how that organization should position its offerings Cardinal Health is one of the leading drug wholesalers in the US that has been evolving with a dedication to improving the cost-effectiveness of healthcare to assist other providers like ambulatories, pharmacies, hospitals, and other health care providers meet the needs of the industry (Cardinal Health, 2018). Determine how you would segment the market to conduct research for the health care providers products or service you found The market can be segmented through the use of product segmentation where the healthcare provider segments the market based on the nature of products that the market receives. Being a drug distributor, Cardinal Health needs to determine the products that each customer buys and determining how the market can be segmented based on different products that exist. Determine the most effective markets for their products/services. Explain your rationale. Provide specific examples to support your response Once the products have been determined, then the market can be arranged based on the products that consumers purchase so that products that are used more can be concentrated on (Wedel & Kamakura, 2010). Product segmentation is good since it allows the organization to position its products based on a set of products that are used. The most effective service is hospitals which form the biggest consumer of pharmaceutical products. Referring to the same health care provider, determine the best way for that organization to analyze its competitors’ strategies, objectives, strengths, and weaknesses. Provide specific examples to support your response. For analyzing its competitors, the organization can use SWOT analysis to analyze its internal environment by looking at its strengths and weakness. On the other hand, Ogutu & Martin (2015), add that competitor analysis and strategies can be done using Porter’s five forces to determine the competition that exists and how the market is liable to any new entrants. 2.Analyze the importance of the enactment of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and appraise the overall impact of HIPAA on patients’ medical records The enactment of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act was created to solve issues that deal with the health coverage challenges for people who have lost their jobs, create industry standards, reduce fraud in the healthcare industry and at the same time protect private health information.  This enactment created policies like the standard of privacy of individually identifiable health information which led to standards for the protection of private health information (Record Nations, 2018. The overall impact of HIPAA on patients’ medical records The impact of HIPPA on patient’s records is increased security which leads to higher confidence in medical systems. Further, data integrity increases clinical outcomes since it creates an environment for practitioners to make the right decisions. Suggest key ways in which health care administrations may improve data and information quality, and decrease data and information error  According to Lord (2018), healthcare providers can increase data security through ensuring that information is encrypted to increase digital security while at the same time employees need to be trained on the state of digital security to ensure that they understand the trends in the system and how to abide by the laws. For example, organizations can invest in the cloud-based data storage service which improves data security in the organization. Therefore, administrators need to ensure that they achieve HIPPA compliance in records management thus increasing efficiency. Differentiate the variations between licensures, certification, measures and accreditation, why it is significant to health care in the United States, and what the role of the Joint Commission is.  Licensure is the process of granting time-limited permission to an individual to engage in a certain occupation after determining that they qualify for the standardized criteria. Certification, on the other hand, is the process of granting non-governmental agency grants recognition to an individual who qualifies for the standardized criteria (Silvis, 2017). Accreditation is the voluntary process of granting an organization time-limited recognition after verifying its credential by a non-governmental agency. A measure is a standard of implementation put in place to meet the requirements of a policy. This is significant to the US since it defines the standards that need to be followed and the organizations or people who have the mandate to operate within a certain occupation. 3: Critical Staffing Shortages Healthcare providers are limited because of the way the nursing profession is being treated.  Nurses are not being paid well like other practitioners thus the reason why there is reducing number of nursing students. Strategies have not been put in place by the government to make the nursing profession more lucrative thus the reason why younger people are participating less in the course. Therefore, if strategies are not put in place to make the medical profession better paying and improving the conditions, then there may be a problem meeting the needs of the industry due to the number of people who are taking these courses. If the profession is not well paying, then there is no inspiration in the profession. References CardinalHealth. (2018). Cardinal Health.
