What was 1 thing that you learned in that presentation that stood out to you (on the issue or on group work and presentations) and how will you apply this to your go forward practice?  Answer: Introduction: I found the presentation on social determinants of health to be most interesting as it provides information regarding how the health and quality of life of the individuals are affected by the conditions in which they are born, grow, live and work (Conestoga, 2018). The proper understanding of the social determinants of health can assist the health care providers to better understand the patients, improve health outcomes and establish effective communication regarding the health related behavior and conditions. The one thing that I learnt in the presentation that stood out to me was that there are a number of strategies which can be taken into consideration for the purpose of improving the health of the Canadians. I will apply this in my practice by way of encouraging healthy life decisions, spreading awareness regarding preventable injury, illness and death, fostering healthy child development and ensuring healthy working conditions. I will also spread awareness regarding creation of a sustainable and thriving economy that provides meaningful work for all, development of well- designed and safe communities, encouraging lifelong learning along with fostering healthy child development. I will also make sure that I provide affordable and appropriate health services that are accessible to all the people. I will apply value- based payment model rather than fee- for- service model as it is more flexible and will help me in considering the social situations of the patients that contribute towards their health and well- being (Heath, 2018).
