Question: Topic : Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome What was your biggest pet peeve as you were reviewing evidence on your topic? What do you think is missing from the body of evidence? If you had unlimited research funding, what study would you design on this topic and what insights would you be able to gain? Answer: Polycystic ovarian disease is a common issue caused by hormonal disorder among the women from all over the world. The women suffering from this syndrome, produces more than normal level of male hormone in their body which causes them to skip their menstrual periods and sometimes it creates difficulty in pregnancy (Barry, Azizia & Hardiman, 2014). It is an ongoing concern and researches are being done to explore facts about it. Various evidences are there which helps in researching on the topic. Some literatures show clear evidences and statistics in this regard. I was also associated in reviewing the topic and gathered lots of evidences related to it. However, while reviewing the evidences some annoying situations I faced which I can refer as the pet peeves during the review process. The biggest pet peeve I found was losing my focus from the main topic. There were various evidences enriched with a lot of data and information but some of them distracted me from the main focus of extracting the exact information relevant to polycystic ovarian disease. Again, in some cases, body of evidences missed information about the prevalence of the disease and the reviewing method was unable to provide direct experiences of patients as the concrete evidence. If I had an unlimited research funding then I would use case-control research method for this study. The case-control studies always compare the cases of the patients suffering from the disease with the people who are not suffering and look back retrospectively to determine the risk factor (Kim et al., 2016). It also provides concrete evidences directly from the patients’ information. The case reports of the patients also helps in providing effective evidences. If information would be connected directly from the patients, it would help in having a deeper insight of the topic.
