Answer: Benchmarking In Health Care Practice Data benchmarking is a crucial process involving seeking and implementing best practices with minimal costs. The pursuit of performance has enabled and propels performance on collaboration within the organization. The key principle of benchmarking is the identification of comparison points against parameters of interest. Benchmarking practices has risen in demand for the last 10 years and has been exonerated by three key factors; control of health care costs, structural adjustments of risks and care quality and patient satisfaction. These huge demands have spurred benchmarking protocol to assess the process and evaluating outcomes in health care delivery, (Ettorchi-Tardy, Levif & Michel, 2012). There four critical types of benchmarking critical in healthcare practice; internal benchmarking assess various departments, which is crucial in healthcare organizations to assess specific measures. As a hospital administrator, assessment on various health clinics can be made, for example assessing whether two clinics scores higher on overall patient satisfaction. Its assessment across the two health care facilities will shed light on areas to be addressed. Other benchmarking types include competitive benchmarking in offering competitive patient care services. Further functional benchmarking is key in assessing comparative industry metrics and finally, generic benchmarking assessment entails assessing beyond the data set o focus more on general process, (Lovaglio, 2012. Utilization of evidence-based benchmarking principles and information is crucial in enhancing better decision outcomes. Evidence-based practice helps to provide and formulate effective treatments plans which offer quality care. Usage of evidence-based practice for future healthcare practice, it facilitates better tracking and comparing clinical and financial outputs against benchmarks which guide on quality improvement. Best practices can be identified and utilized to inform these decisions. Usage of data-driven clinical performance is essential for clear identification of targets for improvements, (Ammons & Rivenbark, 2008). The key challenge I still encounter is locating on the evidence-based practice in healthcare practice.
