The relationship bond becomes stronger when there is trust between them. Even, it is considered as one of the essential elements in the foundation of any relationship, and the relationships between doctor and patient are no exception. Hence, this trust can only be built up when a doctor is truthful to the patients and never lies to them. In some cases, it becomes difficult for the doctors to disclose any harsh reality to the patients, but being truthful, the doctor can rely upon the patient to be cooperative in the suggested treatment procedure. Trust always involves the attitude of optimism and trusting a person, it becomes easier to favourably interpret the action of them. Trust is therapeutic and truth is the main tool of establishing the trust. It can provide moral support to the patients and therefore, it is extremely essential for the doctors to be truthful in order to maintain trust in doctor-patient relationship (Dang et al. 2017). Mandatory Reporting Prevents Harm To Patients The prime responsibility of the doctors as well as other healthcare professionals is to protect and cure the patients. Mandatory reporting in the healthcare settings is fundamental in preventing errors. Various errors can occur while providing care to the patients and many other disturbances might affect the safety of the patients which require mandatory reporting. The disclosing as well as reporting actual errors provides opportunity in reducing the effects of errors and it also warns other to prevent the potential risk of harm. Mandatory reporting benefits the patients as well as the providers by supplying immediate response to the errors and reducing the lengthy litigation. Real-time reporting has many contributions to the rapid investigation in purpose of finding any error or threat (Kellogg et al. 2017). Apart from that, mandatory reporting helps in improving the awareness of errors among the healthcare professionals. However, in many cases, healthcare professionals might feel uncomfortable due to disclosure and reporting, but it is the duty.
