The condition is caused by high level of lead in the human body. Lead is mainly harmful to children below the age of six, however, anybody who drinks, eats, or inhales something that has a high amount of lead may have suffered from lead poisoning. Younger children are exposed to lead because they normally involve themselves in activities which promote lead poisoning such as crawling as well as putting items in their mouths. This increases their danger of being in contact with the lead, and eventually leading to lead positioning through swallowing or breathing.
