PUB HLTH 1003 Communication For Health Sciences Question: Discuss about the Communication for Health Sciences, It has been found that school education has failed to promote the critical thinking skill in learning thus, conceptualization of critical thinking through education has become a concern for the education system. Answer: Introduction: In UK higher education it has been found that engineering programmes are shaped according to the requirements of Engineering council’s accreditation. In some cases the inability of some students to apply the skill of critical thinking in the academic programmes has become one off the main concerns for the educators in UK. This is due to the process of system that has previously used to teach or assess them. It has been found that design of the use of ability to use critical thinking skill across the diverse student group may not have considered (Bramhall et al., 2012, p 323-327). The paper has reported the result of a study regarding the master’s engineering students from two different universities in order to assess the concept of critical thinking in academic program. In this regards the study has Bloom’s taxonomy to identify the level of learning and development of the student that is required to achieve expected outcomes. 9 questions were developed for the research and the questions were produced with the engineering development program reference that include specific investigative project work. It has been found in the study that mostly the library and university sites are used as the source of information. 67% of the student has reported the presence of independent thinking by showing their interest to supervise their task. However, 815 of the student has stated that they need the help of supervisor to complete their task. Most of the student use visual presentation to provide data. However, the students lack the general consensus about reflective practice. The research has concluded that the understanding of the student regarding the use of critical thinking skill is not well developed (Bramhall et al., 2012, p 323-327). It has been found that school education has failed to promote the critical thinking skill in learning thus, conceptualization of critical thinking through education has become a concern for the education system (Radulovi? & Stan?i?, 2017). The paper has focused to provide an analysis of approach of implementing special methods and program and establish other approaches in education in order to promote critical thinking through education. The study has specified three main types of programs such as: i) programs for directly teaching cognitive skills and other skills of critical thinking collected from specific teaching content, ii) programs of teaching critical thinking including infusion program (target to develop critical thinking as explicit goal) and immersion program (does not target to develop critical thinking as explicit goal), iii) mixed program in order to develop critical thinking with independent track within a specific content (Radulovi? & Stan?i?, 2017). The study has introduced another intervention such as establishing individual teaching techniques. The study has identified some factors that could be effective for improving the programs, for example, connecting teaching of critical thinking to specific content, make the learning process visible to students so that they could understand the importance of learning, combining different dynamic teaching method and effective training of teachers (Radulovi? & Stan?i?, 2017). The research has identified that establishment of different approaches for critical competencies are related to the critical pedagogy and open curriculum theory. Thus, introducing special programs is not enough for promoting critical thinking in learning. It is important to reconstruct and develop the responsibilities of students and teachers in learning process and in curriculum development as well (Radulovi? & Stan?i?, 2017).
