Answer: Introduction: Aboriginal people are the indigenous people in Australia who face severe inequality and inequity in healthcare sectors of Australia. Cultural differences have mainly acted as the main barrier that has prevented healthcare professionals and the aboriginal group from collaborating together for the best healthcare services (Hole, Cavanagh & Douglas, 2015). Moreover this cultural group is also found to experience severe disparity in access to healthcare and is unable to communicate with the healthcare professionals due to communication barriers. Their culture is quite different from the non indigenous Australians and therefore their needs and demands are not always properly understood by healthcare workers (Hunt et al., 2015). Hence, recent studies show that in order to maintain health inequality, the primary step that is to be taken is cultural competency in nursing education (Cameron et al., 2014). The report will thereby highlight the importance of cultural competency in the nurses and a paper will be incorporated which will ensure how nurses can incorporate the habit of practicing cultural competency in a much better way. Brief Overview: Every healthcare organization should incorporate the concept of cultural competency in the practices of its healthcare professionals. This should have a defined set of values and principles which when practiced efficiently will help them to demonstrate attitudes, behaviors, structures and policies that will help them to work effectively cross culturally (Brown et al., 2016). The important aspects of the cultural competencies are incorporating respect for the culturally diverse people and develop a relationship of trust. Other aspects would involve flexibility, transport, time, outreach, support and working together. However, in spite of this concept, nurses are unable to portray proper skills and knowledge to overcome cultural and communication barrier (DeSorcy, Olver & Wormith, 2016). The following paper is selected which will guide an innovative way for making the nurses culturally competent so that they can overcome barriers. Title Of The Paper: The “Strengthening Nursing Culture Project” – an exploratory evaluation study of nursing students’ placements within Aboriginal Medical Services The main motive of the healthcare sector in Australian is to develop a system for teaching nursing students the three important aspects to maintain cultural sensitivity. These are cultural awareness, cultural safety and cultural competence. It is the duty of the healthcare mentors to move beyond the conventional problematic and contested models of marinating cultural competence and awareness. In order to make the nurses develop practices that would valuably contribute to partnerships and social justice for Aboriginal healthcare practices, different flawed models of education should be rejected and recent innovative idea should be incorporated. The author had stated that training in cultural competencies and cultural awareness has helped students in understanding the cross cultural knowledge and skills that are required to treat cultural groups but had not been fully successful. They had failed to prepare nurses in working with aboriginal people in reality. It often becomes important for the nurses to work alongside aboriginal nurses. This would help them in providing opportunities where they can practice their learned skills in treating such people by completely immersing with the real world. This has the potential for working in intercultural spaces even going beyond cultural awareness and cultural competence. Placing a nursing student in the Aboriginal medical services helps the  students with unique learning opportunities where they learn the fine models of primary health care and at the same time learn the different applications of the tools that aligns with the cultural needs of the different individual families and communities. The main enactment of the model is the experiences of the nurses being safe within the healthcare and also the healthcare providers being sensitive to their own impact on others (hunt, Cavanagh & Douglas, 2015). This program helped the nurses to educate themselves with the reflexivity that is important for them to explore their own identity and culture. This immersion program also ensures that they recognize that the care they provide is integrated within these only. It was found that cultural preparedness training is particularly important before cultural immersion program as cultural humility is upheld as the centre point. This step is exclusively important for establishment of a trusting relationship that is important between the nurses and people of other culture. The partnerships have been helpful as it develops openness in both patients and in nurses and also develops a desire to know each other. Foundation of cultural humility among the nurses in their healthcare education helps them to support compassion and humble heartedness among themselves along with the ongoing negotiation of therapeutic milleaue, lifelong reflection to self reflection, critique, building partnerships and others. Cultural immersion also helped them in adjusting of the nurses to unfamiliar settings, altering and reviewing their world view, effective communication that broke away the ice, engaging in communications and actions that respected the cultural differences. It also expanded their awareness of health inequality and developing their skills in different in different encounters with another culture. Discussion: It has been found that cultural immersion project has a large number of positive aspects that can be incorporated in different training session of nurses. This gives them an opportunity to experience the different issues that arise while treating aboriginal patients. The nurses gather various kinds of experiences and thereby develop ideas which are both culturally competent and at the same time safe for their health (Best & Gorman, 2016). This also helps them in communicating with the aboriginals on a direct ground as the frequency of aboriginal patients in Aboriginal Medical services is much higher. This gives them scope to develop knowledge about their communication techniques which not only align with their respective cultural demands but also help them to understand the skills that ensure better indigenous patient satisfaction (Middleton, Strephens & Mackay, 2017). As a result this innovative medium if incorporated will ensure better development of cultural competency in nurses to overcome communication and cultural barrier. Conclusion: Aboriginal Australians are culturally much different form non indigenous Australians. By considering them as a minor group, the healthcare centers have already made them suffer a lot as they are not allowed health equality. Moreover their access to healthcare is also limited. In such cases, it is the responsibility of the healthcare professionals ensure cultural competency to overcome the barriers that prevent the aboriginals in getting health services. To develop cultural competency, cultural awareness and cultural safety, cultural immersion programs can be introduced. This will help in overcoming both cultural and communication barriers.
