PUBH6304 Global Health Question: Single-spaced, assignment. Students remember that you have free range to discuss any particular topic you may choose as long as your analysis is constructive. Please include a cultural and/or health impact for that region. Answer: Introduction: The international relations are an important constituent of World peace and regulations. The global alliance here refers to the mannerisms in which two or more nations interact. It also forms the basis for political, social, economic and cultural value exchange. The current study focuses on the concept of the impact of the Syrian crisis on the health, culture and economic conditions of the refugees staying in other economies. The Syrian crisis began in the light of the civil war, which hit the country, on 15th of March, 2011. The war began asking for reforms in the policies of the government. However, the demands was not met, which resulted in a situation of political unrest. As mentioned by Corbane et al. (2016), the growing unrest soon developed into a state of war between the government and the militants. The brutalities have resulted in a huge number of lives being lost with children suffering the most. The war had resulted in the loss of the basic infrastructural support along with schools and hospitals closing down. As asserted by Philips (2016), the war had taken a more volatile turn due to support from other foreign powers. The current situational analysis states that the condition of the Syrian refugees will only worsen in the near future. Therefore, besides monetary, there might be emerging crisis in the availability of food and sufficient health care. The forced migration of the Syrian refugees into smaller countries such as Lebanon and Jordan had a huge effect on the macroeconomic conditions. As per the current statistics, one out of four natives in Jordan is a refugee. The Jordan government had to incur an additional cost of $ 81.4 million for the enrolment of around 78,531syrian children in schools (“Syrian Refugees Living in Jordan and Lebanon: Young, Female, at Risk”, 2017).   The Jordan government also spent an additional amount of $ 168 million for covering the health costs of the Syrian children. Moreover, as mentioned by Fakih & Ibrahim (2016), an additional inflow of $ 62 million per year, is needed to mitigate the costs. Estimates show that the share of the refugee funding is almost 35 % of the total Jordan public budget (“Five facts on the Syrian crisis and its impact on health”, 2017).Thus, in order to meet the additional costs, support from neighboring countries along with organizations such as United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and WHO  is needed. The increasing population also puts a lot of pressure on necessities such as jobs and suitable infrastructure. The Syrian civil war has brought about the huge closure on the health care facilities. In the year 2015, almost 58% public hospitals and 49% primary health care centers were shut down. As reported, by the World Health Organization (WHO), an additional $ 170 million dollars were required to cater to the medical needs of the Syrian refugees (“Five facts on the Syrian crisis and its impact on health”, 2017). The civil war had resulted in the destruction of a number of monuments of cultural significance in Syria. The war had possessed great threats to heritage cities like Aleppo and Home along with the ruins of monuments in the Oasis of Palmyra. References Berti, B. (2015).
