Answer: Introduction: Frustration, anxiety, OCD and attention deficits are common in children, and impair their behavior and performance. The study will compare effectiveness of CBT to active therapies. Active therapies include problem-solving skills and psychodynamic play treatments. While problem solving skills help children to become independent, more attentive and excel in academics, play therapy helps in resolving psychosocial challenges through their play experiences. The study will be a single blind, randomized controlled trial. The intervention will be 1 hour long, conducted on a weekly basis, with informed consent of the parents. Psychiatrists will question 500 school-going children (aged 8-16 years), without disabilities or neurological disorder, and categorize them according to their behavioral and personality disorders. The therapists will be blinded to the allocation. The children will be randomized to supportive therapy, group CBT and no intervention for 12 weeks. CBT will include engagement to foster motivation, assessment, case formulation, treatment planning, and increased focus on several activities. ANCOVA will be used to test the differences in disorder severity. Chi-square tests will assess group differences during post-intervention.
