Question: Write a detailed proposal for a review of the effectiveness or meaningfulness of a health promotion intervention for your Double Dissertation research project to be undertaken during your year three. The introduction and a reference list , also need to have my five articles that must include at least one quantitative and one qualitative which must be downloaded from my university library website using Cinahl and i would like my pico question to be related with child obesity. Answer: Methodology This paper is an investigation into the effectiveness of public health interventions for promotion of public health by creating awareness about the common health issues faced by majority of the common people. The reason for this research is due to the fact that the professionals working in the area of public health already have heavy workload along with an insufficient staff and resources. The evaluation of the efficacy of such interventions will be conducted using both qualitative as well as quantitative methodologies. Through the use of interviews and survey research method, we shall make a qualitative analysis of the potency of the various interventions conducted in the past year for the upliftment of the public health . The interviews can be conducted among stratified samples of the population in a university campus. The data gathered by the above technique can then also be converted into numerical data, thereby giving the researcher the necessary tools to formulate an adequate criticism based on well rounded theoretical as well as statistical evidence. The PICO Question technique helps a common man search for the relevant data in a sea of medical journals and literature and also helps a researcher by making sure that his research is well within everyone’s reach by making the gist of the research concise by putting it in a few words. I have chosen the topic of child obesity in formulation my PICO question, which is as follows: P Population/Patient = Children (8-14 years old) I Intervention/Indicator = Obesity C Comparator/Control = Exercise and the right nutrition O Outcome = Healthy child Literature that will be used while creating the research The studies found in the area of public health focus solely on forming policies and conducting programs for the welfare of the people but they lack the insight into the execution of such policies and programs or even a detailed analysis whether the plan worked or not and if it did, to what extent. There is an inconsistency in the use of resources deployed by the government as well as the healthcare sector. For instance, Helen Thompson in her ‘Here’s to you Health’ has suggested that alcohol in moderate amounts is not harmful and is even good for health but she omitted the part where there are exceptions to the rule, i.e. people who have some internal health problem which is so dormant that they themselves have no clue and the consumption of alcohol may aggravate their situation. Most health journals, though open to public scrutiny, have a very theoretical approach, thus making them hard to decipher for a common man. The few interventions where a participatory method is used to conduct the research, people are not aware of what exactly the research is about, making the research something that is way beyond their reach.
